I read on the internets that roof rack options for an M Coupe were limited to OEM BMW and the Thule 753 system. In order to mount the Thule system, you have to cut the underside of the load bars back an inch or three in order for the feet to be able to scoot in closer towards the center more.
The feet slide in/out alongside the bars, and it needs to be able to get skinny enough to fit the rear of the coupe’s bodyline. I did it with a Dremel and some cutting discs. The stickers said to mount the rear left on the rear left, but I found the feet mounted best when mounted in reverse. So mount the rear left foot on the rear right and vice versa.
Rather than cutting my bike tray to be short enough so that the trunk could fully open I just flipped it around. You may hate the look, but it’ll work for me since the bike is a big 29′er.
You’re also probably wondering if your sunroof will still have room to open or not. The foot touches the sunroof, but I didn’t notice any binding or scratching. I think the two just meet when the sunroof is fully opened.

Currently I have just one tray up there, but there’s plenty of room to add a second tray. It also doesn’t look half bad fully installed. I’ve noticed hardly any wind noise since the install.
